A custom family portrait can celebrate parents and children, siblings, grandparents or several generations together. Your painting might capture a relaxed moment at home, a favourite outdoor setting or a group photograph from a special occasion. The number of people, their placement and the scale of the canvas all affect how comfortably the composition works.

For larger family groups, a bigger canvas can allow more room for individual faces and gestures. Choose an artist whose gallery shows the balance of likeness and brushwork you prefer. We help you discuss the arrangement, clothing, background and important personal details, then provide a proposal suited to your family portrait commission.

Start with a clear group photograph where possible. Additional close-up photographs can help the artist understand faces that appear small in the main image. If you want to bring relatives together from different photographs, send the originals for assessment: lighting, pose and perspective need to work together. Tell us which expressions and relationships are most important to preserve.

1. Send your photographs, preferred artist, size and any important date for a free assessment.
2. Review your personalised proposal and exact quote. A 30% deposit starts the commission.
3. Receive progress photographs or videos and discuss adjustments during painting.
4. Approve the finished portrait and pay the remaining 70% before dispatch. Typical delivery is 4–10 weeks, depending on the artwork’s content and size.

All prices are in Canadian dollars. Framing is not included in the painting price.
