A single-person portrait can celebrate a loved one, mark a graduation or retirement, or preserve a meaningful memory. Your painting may focus on the face and shoulders, include a seated pose, or show a person in a setting that tells their story. Our Toronto studio helps you discuss the reference photograph, composition and canvas size before your selected artist begins.

For a formal portrait, look for a style with carefully observed features, clothing and lighting. For a more relaxed painting, compare expressive brushwork, softer edges and atmospheric backgrounds. Send a clear photograph with the face in focus and natural, even lighting where possible. Include additional photographs if they help show eye colour, hair or characteristic details. Tell us which image should guide the pose and expression. An artist can discuss a simpler background, but a very small or blurred source image may limit the detail that can be painted.

1. Send your photographs, preferred artist, size and any important date for a free assessment.
2. Review your personalised proposal and exact quote. A 30% deposit starts the commission.
3. Receive progress photographs or videos and discuss adjustments during painting.
4. Approve the finished portrait and pay the remaining 70% before dispatch. Typical delivery is 4–10 weeks, depending on the artwork’s content and size.

All prices are in Canadian dollars. Framing is not included in the painting price.
